I love my hometown, Greensboro, NC, and have always enjoyed how work, life and leisure intersect here. Greensboro is a special place marked by colleges and universities, artists and craftspeople, major corporations and small businesses, great restaurants and breweries — and friendly people from all walks of life. I’m so grateful to be part of this amazing community, and I can’t wait to share with you a few of the things to look for when searching for the place you want to call home — whether that be Greensboro or another amazing city!
Here are 3 of my best tips for finding a city that checks all of your boxes.
1. Look for culture and art. Cities that value culture and art and offer close proximity to downtown living are becoming more and more popular for home buyers. PLUS — properties in these areas have great resale value! Even small cities can bring elements of big city living, providing community members with fun things to do in their free time. Take, for example, Greensboro’s Tanger Center or Greensboro Coliseum, which bring amazing experiences like Broadway, music, lecture series and so much more to Greensboro and surrounding areas.
2. Get to know your potential new home — research and look for things that are special to you. What are your hobbies? Where do you like to spend your free time? Your new city could have just the spot for you! Recently, I had the chance to sit down with one of Greensboro’s newest residents, Ryan Deal. Ryan is Greensboro’s new chief creative economy officer. We had a great time talking about the importance of knowing your city and all it has to offer. I am so happy to welcome him to our city! 3. Tour the city, not just the homes. I love giving prospective new homeowners an extensive tour of Greensboro. I think it’s important that they see the highlights of the city before they lay down roots here — highlights like Greensboro Cultural Arts Center, Greensboro Science Center, our beautiful parks and lakes, restaurants, shops and so much more! I encourage you to look for the highlights in your new city.
In Greensboro, there are so many options for living. Whether you are looking for a home by the lake, a historic neighborhood or a taste of suburbia, Greensboro has a great spot for you.
